Do you think buying an blu- ray player is worth the money? I don’t have an hdtv, I have a reg sony tv…?

I was just wondering if it’s worth the money or not. I really want to buy Michael Jackson’s This is It, but on the website it seems that there are more features on bluray than on dvd, that’s probably the only reason why I might want the bluray player. I know it plays dvds, dvd-r, rw etc. I don’t have an HDTV; I just have a regular sony tv I got it in 2003. I recently got digital cable b/c of the switch to digital; and I can see the picture quality is slightly better, but not to an extent that I was really amazed. Comcast said I can get hdtv if I get a hd converter box, but I don’t know how that is going to help if I buy a bluray player. So overall, is it really worth it to buy a bluray player if you just have a NONhdtv?

you can’t even play blu ray on a regular tv, i have a ps3, but from what i think i know is that no standalone blu ray player even has outputs to connect into standard tvs such as s video or the “yellow” port
