Why did my photos go blurry?
I use a Nikon D3. Settings f5.6/60th of a sec. 400 iso. Every setting i usually use for these photos were dead on. My photos went blurry in the middle of my shoot. I messed with the AF-On and Af-L buttons and they went back to crisp photos. I am not sure if i messed with anything or not.
Anyone have a clue of what happened?
Could be a few things. Maybe the action needed a faster shutterspeed, and thus caused the blur. I would have to assume you are using a wide angle lens, with that slow shutterspeed.
Could be that you bumped the AF lock and locked it on a different point so thus it would shift the focal plan and that could change and mess up a lot of things. Also if the AF got bumped and turned on that would cause it also. I have had that happen to me a few times, but normally you will notice it when shooting because it wont be crips when you are shooting.
Its good that you caught it during the shoot. You might want to go into the menus and set up your normal settings and adjust them as the new default. You can also disable the buttons so you cant bump them on accident. But if you do that, be aware that they have to be re-activated later, incase you need to use them. I use the AF lock and Exposure lock often. I dont use Manual mode inless I am in the studio with strobes. I use Aperture Priority normally, so I can control the DOF and let the camera set the best Shutter Speed for the proper exposure. I normally am set at -1/3 as it give a tad more contrast and helps protect the highlights in sunlight as well.
Hope this helps. Good Luck and Happy Shooting.
