Memory card won’t stay in Nikon digital camera?
I have a Nikon Coolpix S210 digital camera, and it has decided to eject the memory cards I put in it. It’s not just a certain one, it pops them all out.
I have only had this camera for 5 months, and it has only started to do this recently. The slot where I insert the memory card is spring-loaded, but whenever I push it in, it will pop back out and won’t stay in, causing my camera to give me an ‘out of memory’ error message on the screen.
I am almost to the point where I have to manually hold the memory card in place with my finger while I take the picture, which is very tedious and unnecessary.
Has anyone else had this problem? I bought the camera new from Circuit City, should I take it back to them?

Five months would rid Circuit City of any responsibility for the matter. You’ll need to contact Nikon to arrange for repair service (fhotoace has conveniently provided the number for customer service in the U.S.). The lock mechanism isn’t working for some reason; it’s a problem that exists for any device with a spring operated memory card slot. It’s very likely that such a repair would happen under warranty if it’s still valid.
Before you call Nikon, check to see if all of the memory cards you tried are fine. Though it is highly unlikely that all your memory cards are affected, broken catches on the card may cause locking problems as well.
