Nikon D40 or Canon Rebel XT 350?

Since you already have a good lens you are satisfied, and will fit the Nikon, I would get that. Look elsewhere to find one where you can buy just the body. The Canon is a good camera, too, but if you're thinking of the 50 mm objective, we must remember that there is a zoom lens as you have. Why not go to a good shop Ritz camera and hold both houses. You will be able to say that you prefer to do this. See which one feels better, and what is easier for you use. Both are good cameras, and image quality depends on the lens used.
