Nikon D40 or Nikon D60?

I have recently started to develop my interest in photography and have decided to save up for a DS LR camera. Both the Nikon D40 and Nikon D60 have been recommended to me, I know that the D60 is obviously a step up so to speak from the D40, but which one is better?? I know the D60 has more mega pixels and the dust reduction systems, but in terms of performance/ battery life etc which would be better? Any advice, from personal experience with either camera would be much appreciated.

The D60 is by far the better out of the two if you can afford it and you are right the more mega pixel you have the better picture quality you will get and that mean bigger prints 20×30in with out losing quality of the photo nikon are a very good quality camera I use pentax my self I have use nikon both make are good.
