Serious Camera Help ASAP!!! Canon 50D vs Nikon D300?

Ok heres the situation:
Im buying a new camera and I need to take 5ft by 10ft poster size images of girls playing basketball indoors. That means fast rapid shutter speed and decent quality/ high iso with low noise when blow up to this giant size.

The cameras im looking at: Canon 50d or Nikon’s D300.

I like how the Canon is cheaper and has relatively the same features as the nikon’s more expensive d300, but which one will give me decent quality for a 5ft by 10ft poster with high iso. Im used to canon’s menu too since i have the canon s5. Leaning more towards the canon due to price and the fact that it seems to perform the same as the nikon for less money. Advise??? thanks!

BY THE WAY im only getting three of these big posters. After that im using the camera for mostly nature and landscape shots. Which camera would suit my purposes?

both cameras are pretty much the same. same iso and shutter speed range. both have nearly the same max resolution for large printing.
the difference is going to be in your lenses. you will need a constant aperture zoom. probably something in the 50-200mm range since you will need to capture images from almost any vantage point. the canon brand that i’m familiar with of this type of lens runs in the $700 range. you can probably get away with something cheaper. like there run-of-the-mill 75-300mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. it’s cheap. the quality is mostly good if the place you are shooting is well lit. my experience with most gymnasiums is that they are not. this means you have to run high iso. around 800 or 1600 to get the fast shutter speed you need to capture action shots. i’ve used the cheap lens and made some decent shots. if you’re familiar with image correcting software like aperture you can underexpose and fix it in post. if that’s the case you will need to be shooting in camera raw as the jpeg compression throws out too much information to correct without obvious distortion.
