I’m considering replacing my older Olympus Camedia C3000 Zoom with the new Nikon Coolpix p500.?
The reviews I’ve read on the Nikon state that picture clarity is a problem, especially at ISO’s higher than 400. I’ve been fairly well satisfied with the 3.3 MP in my Olympus, and would be buying the Nikon for the 36x magnification and greater verstility. Is the 12+ MP in the Nikon likely to satisfy my desire for clarity?
Super duper zoom ranges usually sacrifice clarity to achieve. Digital cameras with small sensors usually show a big downturn in image quality above ISO 400. Nikon was smart to hold the megapixels down to 12 instead of cramming in more like some cameras do. High pixel densities hurt image quality.
