What’s a digital camera import model difference?
I’m looking at a Nikon Coolpix p60 at ebay.com and you can buy it for 199 by itself or 199 to 224 with different kits (memory card, case, tripod, lens cleaning kit, all kinds of stuff). I think the kits have import models, and I know that an import model dSLR doesn’t come with it’s battery pack, so anyone know what if anything is the difference in the import kit or the regular camera?
Imported, or grey market, cameras should come with the battery. There are some differences when you buy grey market cameras, mainly:
– No warranty if the warranty is region-specific. If the reseller is nice he might throw a 3rd party plan in for free, or he might be nasty and push you to buy one. If the camera includes an international warranty it’s usually kept with the camera.
– Charger may not be compatable with your country’s standards
– Default camera language may be set to a different one
– Manuals/CD may be in a different language
