- Live view – similar to what you are used to on Point and Shoot cameras rather than using the view finder (which is still available)
- Full HD Video Capture at 1920 x 1080 (highest resolution in its class)
- Creative Auto – coming from point and shoot you are familiar with this, however it is new to DSLRs. It is the ability to use creative photo settings on the fly, getting fantastic photos without having to edit in photoshop

The Canon Rebel T1i (aka 500D) has improvements over its predecessor, the Rebel XSi in image sensor size, going from 12.2 to 15.1 megapixels. Also improved is the upgrade from DIGIC 3 to DIGIC 4 processor which allows for the brand new Video capture feature (also not available in the Rebel XSi). And finally, Creative Auto is new in the T1i.

I would like some advice on the best Entry level DSLR camera available.?
I’m looking to get into photography quite seriously, and I have been looking at reviews and what not of quite a few camera’s that slot into the category of “entry level”.
I would like something better than the Nikon D60, and I’ve had a look at the Nikon D90, the Canon 500D and the Nikon D5000 and they are all marginally better and worse than each other in different aspects.
Basically I would like a DSLR that I can keep for a number of years (2-5) without needing to upgrade. Live View is rather important, but not 100% necessary. I have a budget of about $1500 that could stretch to $1700.
I’ve only really looked at Nikon and Canon as those are two brands I am familiar with, so any advice on what camera would suit me would be very appreciated.
I have a D-90 as well and love it. I could certainly recommend it to you I know a few pro’s who use it as their non studio camera as well.
I would take the extra you are willing to spend and put it towards an additional lens rather than chasing a more expensive body. A good lens will do more for you than any minor upgrade features you would find over the D-90.
