which digital camera is better from this two…one with a 1/2.3 in ccd sensor or one with 1/2.5 in ccd sensor?

that is the camera with 1/2.3 ccd sensor size is 8 mp and the one with 1/2.5 inch ccd sensor size is 7.1 mp. does the size of sensor affect the quality of pictures?is there any considerable difference between these two sensor sizes?

Based strictly upon the numbers, the 1/2.3″ CCD @ 8MP should afford a higher resolution image. However, there are some important changes that go on from the time the sensor collects the analog light, until it is finally saved as a digital image file.
