Digital Cameras, some basic info please.?
Is 6.1 megapixels good for a Digital camera with some exposure and composition controls?

yes and no. On DSLR it is plenty to large enlargements. I use D70 (6mp) and i routinely print 13×19 easily.
But on point and shoot 6 MP is only good enough for about 8×10. After that the noise get’s noticeable. I use Canon S3 (6mp) P&S. BUT you would think that 10 MP P&S would be better. NO. That makes the digital noise problems worse. So there’s an upper limit how good a print that can be made from P&S.
But I heard many good things about Canon G10 (15 MP). It might be using CMOS sensor (which have lower noise) – you need to double check.
Good Luck…
