What is a good yet simple digital camera with an interchangable lens?
I’m mainly using it for macro photography, but i would also use it for landscapes, portraits, and low lit areas like concerts. Not to mention i would like it to be simple for example a lot of automatic settings and focusing. Also a simple to use AVCHD video capability. So far im interested in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1. Any recommended lenses?
I don’t believe the 4/3 lenses fhotoace mentions will fit your camera. The DMC-GH1 uses Micro 4/3 lenses. I don’t know if there is an adapter available to use 4/3 lenses on a Micro 4/3 body but if there is it would add cost and likely a multiplication factor.
The DMC-GH1 is a nice camera and the Micro 4/3 lenses have nice performance but the selection is very limited right now. Im sure selection will improve as the format gains popularity but how long that will take is anyones guess. Third party suppliers like Sigma and Tamron don’t produce micro 4/3 lenses yet.
Canon camcorders use AVCHD. The Canon T1i DSLR records 1080 HD. I didn’t check but I would think it also is AVCHD.
I personally would skip the DMC-GH1 and go for the T1i because of the far larger selection of lenses available. Prices on the T1i may be dropping since the introduction of the T2i.
