Which camera would work better for my purposes?
I’ve been doing lots of research on SLR digital cameras and lenses. I’m feeling very confident between the following 3 cameras.
Canon Rebel XS 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera
Canon Rebel XSi 12.2MP Digital SLR Camera
Canon Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera
However, I can’t decide which one would be better. Price is a big factor for me. I’m just 14 years old and just starting to get into photography. In the future, and at the moment, I want my photography to be mainly portraits and landscapes. I’m not interested in doing sports, close up items, etc. Which camera at the moment do you think would make my photographs the best?
What I kind of photography I’m interested in doing:
portraits, inside and outside, mostly in nicely lit areas
landscapes, mostly with good light, not dark stormy scenes to begin with

These are all great cameras. I have an XSi.
Also consider Nikon D40 / D60
SLR cameras require a significant investment to get started. To do what you say you want to do (portraiture and landscapes) you will need the at least the following:
Camera + lenses + memory card(s)
Tripod
Additional lighting for portraiture (lamps or flashes)
Carrying case/bag
The kit lens with an SLR does have the focal length zoom range required for most portrait and landscape shots; but you will probably want to get at least one or two more lenses for the camera.
Depending on your budget (if you have less than $700 USD+taxes to spend), you may also want to consider something like a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28 or a Canon PowerShot G10. They are both great cameras with all the manual controls that are available on an SLR, for a fraction of the price.
