What would you recommend the camera, the Nikon D5000 or D90?

This will be my first digital SLR camera [I have the Nikon P90 in this time] and I was wondering which camera would be the best option, D5000 or D90. I hear they are quite similar, but the D90 is more advanced .. So should I have D5000 and I'm starting kind of?
