It is a typical camera mount 1 / 4 "o / 4" 3?

I need a replacement quick release mount for my Canon 40D, and I need to know the size of the mounting screw. Is that 1 / 4 "or 3 / 4?

The thread is 1 / 4 – 20. That means it is 1 / 4, but without the "20" the thread is not trying to line up and strip use. However, this only matters if you go to the hardware store to something rig. If you go to a store camera, tripod brand or model of the head is important information. Without that, the 1 / 4 "does not matter.
