How I can get an external flash to fit in my digital camera?

I have a new flash that my uncle gave me. the only problem is conditions does not in my Canon XTi. I mean it, but my party pad CAMEA what doent in flash. Is there any way I can get a mount, or do I have spend the money and buy another flash? well, a flash of his age. so I sing be returned. my uncle said he has used before with their charges, although his model is older than mine. it is a question of models or an attachment of some sort?

You can be a good thing that did not fit. Until you know the voltage Shooting of any generic or even more than 5 years old Canon flash, do not use. The Canon DSLRs are limited to a 6v trigger voltage to the shoe. Anything else that fry your electronics, either immediately (for 200V +) or possibly (for 12v +). Can the new flash back?
