Cany anyone give me an opinion on a digital camera add-on lens / extender (telephoto / wide angle)?
I see a lot of these on ebay, but have yet to find a review. For the most part, seem to be "brand free", although I do see "Digital Optics" in there also – or the camera manufacturers own product just fine. I know that even with an extender Equipment Nikon Nikon, not always going to be a slight loss image quality and maximum aperture. I can live with that. What I would like to know are these generic optical garbage, mediocre or OK? (I think the best who will be good!). For all the photographers (as almost everyone takes pictures in these days of one form or another), I invite responses from serious or professional amateur photographers who can offer me a clearer perspective. Of course I'm more interested in a wide angle converter on TV (though sometimes come together.)
Raynox, Tiffen, Hoya and Kenko are brands that I've heard of to do the conversion lenses for various brands. Personally, I'd stick with them. Make to standard sizes such as 58mm, 55mm or Take a look at the example in Lensmate galleries. They have sample galleries for converters in Canons. Not sure if the results are the same as Nikon. Note that if you use the wrong one, or a generic converter in a camera, there's always the possibility that you will account of the bullets or cutting corners. You can see in some models, there is some distortion barrrel severe, though, the real focal length wide.
