Comparison of the camera?
I'm looking to get a DSLR and is proven to be difficult to decide. I have read several reviews of the cameras and appear to be quite similar. Good someone give me some ideas, not have a preference? This will be my "breaking" of the camera, I will update in a few years after school, and I'll probably want to stick with the same camera in the company of all, there is one above the rest to make an easy transition? I will be shooting some pictures of the landscape, but especially in people a kind of study of a few, but out of the majority. To start the camera I will not make the sports- faster action will be dancing, but the next camera I will be able to take good pictures action-track/cross County, etc. My experience with digital is limited to the Canon PowerShot, but has used a 35mm SLR. The 3 cameras I've been trying to decide between are: Nikon D80, Canon Digital Rebel XTi, Pentax K10D. Thanks in advance. ~ Christen
You've selected three chambers fine. You will be interested in reading about them in this head to head comparison. I'm a Nikon so I'm happy with the outcome of this test, but will have to go to a camera store and see which one feels better in your hands. The team is only part of the equation make a good photo. You have to be comfortable with your camera. Since they are looking to the future, your options are among the best, as the three companies have extensive line of lenses that work with these cameras. Nikon and Canon won in that category, but Pentax is not too far. The three companies have been around for a long time. The February 2007 issue of Macworld has an article which compares the 10 MP DSLR. I took the scores and ranked the cameras similar to Formula 1 presents the championship points. I gave 5 for 1st place to 1 in last place, splitting the difference when cameras tied in their categories. Assessed quality Image (giving this twice as much weight as anything else), ease of use, control and flexibility of the system. The final order and my results are as follows: Nikon D80 – 17.5 points – Best in picture quality, System Control and Flexibility Canon Rebel XTi (400D) – 13.5 points – Tied for best in System Flexibility Pentax K10D – 11 points – Tied to the better ease of use Samsung GX10 – 11 points – Tied for best in ease of use Sony Alpha 100 to 7 points – LAST in image quality, ease of use and flexibility of the system ". Moreover, it is the same magazine that put the Sony Alpha 100 dead last in this comparison named it the camera of the year edition before! For about $ 300-500 less, look at the results of recent PopPhoto test and choose from the list according to your taste. Personally, I use a Nikon D200 and would recommend it without hesitation to someone who has knowledge of photography. For someone who wants the 'Best', but from something of an entry level "knowledge base, I'd suggest the Nikon D80. There are people out there indicating a preference for Canon cameras and I will not argue with them. The Canon 30D and 400D are excellent cameras as well. You have to visit a photo shop or camera department and pick them up and see what you think. This review is available online at: http://www.popphoto.com/cameras/3569/10mp-dslr-shootout.html
