Can I reuse old AA batteries in a digital camera?

In a recent vacation, I mistook my dead old and AA batteries new. So I kept taking the pile of mixed batteries to put new ones in the camera every time you died. I ended up using only 6 batteries all week, when usually you would use 14. When I returned a friend told me you should not do that. Is it bad for the camera to re-use batteries?

no its not. if the battery still has juice in it can still continue using it until your out of juice. will not affect the camera anyway. its perfectly well.
